Lock Out Function

The Lock Out function protects your show from accidental changes. Once locked, editing actions are blocked and on-screen playback controls are either kept available or disabled, depending on the mode. External triggers can still operate in either lock state.

Lock Out mode is stored in global settings, so it applies to the current machine and persists between sessions.

Callie has three lock states:

ModeIconBehaviour
No Lock OutOpen lockAll editing and playback controls work normally.
Partial Lock OutClosed lock (orange)Only play/stop actions work. Right-click menus, preferences, clip editing, project switching, and other edits are blocked.
Full Lock OutClosed lock (red)The main Callie window is blocked, but the lock icon remains clickable. External triggers still work.

Click the lock icon in the header to cycle through the modes.

The cycle order is:

No Lock Out → Partial Lock Out → Full Lock Out → No Lock Out

To unlock from Partial or Full mode, click the same lock icon again until it returns to the open state.

  • Partial Lock Out adds an orange border to the window.
  • Full Lock Out adds a red border to the window.
  • The lock icon itself changes from open to closed.

These cues make it obvious from across a control room whether the UI is locked.

In Partial Lock Out:

  • Right-click context menus on clips and outputs
  • Clip Settings
  • Preferences
  • Project switching and import/export
  • Gang Editor and Playlist panels
  • Menu bar actions that change state

Playback still works, including:

  • Clicking clip buttons
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Stream Deck buttons
  • MIDI, OSC, Web API, and timecode triggers

In Full Lock Out, interaction with the main Callie window is blocked. The lock icon in the header still responds to input so you can unlock. External triggers such as MIDI, Stream Deck, OSC, Web API, timecode, and keyboard shortcuts continue to work.

  • Partial Lock Out is ideal during a live show when operators need to fire clips but should not be able to edit the project.
  • Full Lock Out is useful when you want to prevent accidental clicks on the main Callie window, while still allowing external controllers to operate. The lock icon stays accessible so you can unlock when needed.
  • Leave the mode on No Lock Out while building or rehearsing the show.

  • Unlocking always requires a deliberate click on the lock icon, so a stray mouse click elsewhere will not disable the protection.
  • If you forget the mode is locked, the colored border is your first clue.
  • Combine Partial Lock Out with Gangs and MIDI control for a hands-off playback setup.
