How to License Laika

Laika uses online activation through licensing.fetchmedia.tools.

License Scope

Unlicensed (Free):

Basic layouts: 1x1, 1x2
All monitoring features
Debug Viewer
Audio monitoring

Licensed:

All preset layouts (2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 8x4, and specialized layouts)
Layout Designer access
Pads system
NDI® Output

Activating Your License

After Purchase:

You’ll receive a license key via email from Lemon Squeezy
Open Laika
Menu → Help → Manage License
Click “Activate License”
Enter your license key
Click Activate

Laika connects to licensing.fetchmedia.tools to validate your key. Activation completes within 1-2 seconds on most networks. Once activated, all licensed features unlock immediately.

For air-gapped or high-security environments, contact us at https://fetchmedia.tools/contacts for offline activation instructions.

Checking License Status

In the application:

Bottom status bar shows:
✓ Licensed (Custom Layouts) — You’re good to go
⚠ Unlicensed (Free Layouts Only) — Custom layout features are locked

In the License Manager:

Menu → Help → Manage License

Shows:

License status (Active/Expired/Not Activated)
Licensed to (name/email)
Expiry date (if subscription-based)
Product ID and activation ID

License Renewal

Subscriptions require renewal to maintain access to licensed features. Laika will notify you 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day before expiry.

If your license expires:

Laika reverts to free-tier features (1x1 and 1x2 layouts only)
Existing custom layouts remain visible but cannot be edited or applied
Pads using licensed layouts become locked
NDI® Output stops

Renew through the same purchase channel (Lemon Squeezy or direct contact).

Moving Licenses Between Machines

Each license is tied to one machine (hardware fingerprint).

To transfer:

Deactivate on the old machine (Help → Manage License → Deactivate)
Activate on the new machine using the same license key
Only one activation is allowed per license at a time
