Getting Started

New installations start with a 2x2 layout and no sources assigned.

Here’s the typical workflow:

  1. Discover NDI® sources on your network
  2. Assign sources to viewer tiles
  3. Choose or design a layout
  4. Configure audio monitoring if needed
  5. Save your setup as a pad for instant recall
  6. Switch to fullscreen for production monitoring

You don’t have to follow this order exactly, but it’s how most operators work.

Main Window Structure:

Top Menu Bar: The menu bar provides access to all application functions:

  • File: Preferences, Layout Designer, Quit
  • Sources: Refresh Sources, Clear All Sources, Discovery Server Config
  • Layout: Switch between preset layouts, load custom layouts, manage custom layouts
  • Pads: Save current pad, load saved pads, manage pads, pads overview
  • View: Fullscreen toggle, Light/Dark Mode
  • Help: Check for Updates, Manage License, About, Open Debug Viewer

Main Viewing Area: The centre displays your viewer tiles arranged according to the current layout. Each tile shows:

  • Viewer number in the top-left corner
  • Source name (if assigned)
  • Resolution and frame rate (if source is active)
  • Audio meters at the bottom (showing first 8 or 16 channels)
  • Visual status indicators (green border for active, red for monitoring)

Right-Click Context Menu: Right-click any viewer to access per-viewer options:

  • Select source from discovered NDI® sources list
  • Clear Source (remove current assignment)
  • Viewer-specific settings

Bottom Status Bar: Shows current pad name (if saved), active layout name, license status (✓ Licensed / ⚠ Unlicensed for Custom Layouts), and application version.

Viewer Focus: Click a viewer to focus it (for keyboard navigation if implemented).
Audio monitoring applies to the clicked viewer when activated.

Layouts: Switching layouts preserves source assignments where possible (matching viewer numbers).

Pads: Switching pads restores the complete monitoring state (layout + all source assignments).
